Recap: The Clovis Card And A Crowd That Stayed To The End
Four bouts, a debut that went the distance, and the quietest arena we have ever heard during a fifth round.

Small cards teach you more than big ones. This one taught us that the crowd will stay if the fights are good, even on a Thursday.
The main event
Two local fighters, five rounds, no knockdowns, and a fifth round where the building went almost silent. That does not happen in this sport very often. When it does it means everybody in the room understands the round is deciding the fight.
The debut
A twenty-two year old out of Clovis took a bout on eleven days notice and went the distance. He lost every round and he did not stop working. He will fight for us again.
What worked
Four bouts instead of six. The night ran two hours and twenty minutes, nobody left early, and the energy did not sag in the middle the way it does on a stacked card.
What did not
Concessions ran out of almost everything by the second bout. That is on us for underestimating a Thursday crowd, and it will not happen again.
The takeaway
We will run more small cards. Fans keep telling us they prefer a tight four-fight night to a seven-fight marathon, and the gate on this one backed that up.
